Wedding
Danceland
The story behind this image was taken straight out of a movie. I swear.
As we switched locations during their vow renewal we ended up at Danceland (in Mantiou Beach) where they had their wedding reception 5 years earlier. Reading the info posted outside the front door we discovered that there was a dance taking place the following evening.
Just then a kind woman holding a paintbrush flung open the door and asked if she could help us. My couple explained that they wanted to reserve a spot for the dance the next day. The woman told us to come inside and she would take down their info.
As the woman disappeared to find her papers Jen, my bride, asked if it was too dark to take any photos. I told her and her husband to just go out and dance in the middle of the floor and that I would make something happen.
They started dancing, and I started taking photos.
Slowly the dance floor started to light up. One by one the sting lights came to life, then the globes above the floor and finally the mirror ball. The woman who had welcomed us in must have been a romantic like me and played into the scene unfolding in her venue. She then quietly crossed the dance floor and turned on the radio sitting by the stage. All without interrupting the lovers who were dancing in the exact spot they had their first dance years earlier.
Just came across this post as I was checking out your beautiful website, Danielle! This post resonated with me on so many levels! First – I LOVE Danceland! It is a place where magic happens, which is exactly what unfolded in this experience with your couple! Second: I believe it is so important to mark milestones in a meaningful way. As a Celebrant, I help people do this with ceremonies. But I also know that this also happens in sweet, private moments as it did for this couple. Just by visiting the place where they had been wed five years earlier and sharing a dance, they marked their milestone anniversary in such a special way. 🙂
